Construindo o Futuro project resumes face-to-face activities with the delivery of a Reading Bag at daycare centers in Betim

On October 25, 26 and 27, the Bom Pastor (Imbiruçu), Mother Trabalhadora (Petrovale) and Santa Cecilia Educação Infantil (Colônia Santa Isabel) daycare centers in Betim will receive the storyteller Nana (@nanaencanta) for the delivery of the Reading Bag, made by Instituto Ramacrisna. The activity is part of the Construindo o Futuro project, sponsored by Petrobras through the Petrobras Socioambiental Program, and celebrates the return of face-to-face activities in the day care centers served by the project.

The objective of Readimg Bag is to take the library outside the walls of Ramacrisna, promoting literary actions in other spaces and awakening in children the pleasure of reading. “The bag is an instrument to transport books safely, ideal to be used in places without a library, since this bag becomes a mobile bookcase and can be fixed to any structure”, says the vice president of the Institute, Solange Bottaro.

The bag pockets are transparent and display the beautiful colored covers of the books, motivating children to look for them. It is made of resistant fabric, measuring 1.40mx1m (open, like a bookcase), with 12 transparent plastic bags where 20 books are placed. When closed for transport, it is 40cmx40cm.

When delivering the suitcase, the storyteller performs a playful moment with the children to whet their desire for books and talks about the existence of a magic suitcase that turns into a shelf and where the story book is to be told, as well as many others.

The Construindo o Futuro project started in March 2020 and is offering free professional qualification courses, workshops and activities to encourage reading for children, teenagers and young people living in Betim, Ibirité and Sarzedo. In all, 3,200 people in situations of social vulnerability, aged between 3 and 40 years, will benefit. All activities are completely free..

The Reading Bag project started in 2010 and so far 95 bags have been delivered in the cities of Betim, Mateus Leme, Esmeraldas, Juatuba and Belo Horizonte.
