Make a Difference with Your Income Tax

Taxpayers can donate part of the total tax amount and positively impact society.

It’s tax season, and being up to date with the Federal Revenue already gives a sign of tranquility. Now, imagine regularizing your situation and still contributing to reading incentive projects that benefit children and teenagers? According to the Income Tax rules, taxpayers can donate up to 6% of the total tax amount throughout the year, and if they choose to donate during the declaration period, the allowed limit is reduced to a maximum of 3%. In either situation, the donated amounts are used as tax deductions, which means that instead of allocating that value to the government, it will be directed to the chosen organization. This allocation is an opportunity for donors to choose where part of their money goes.

Social Transformation

It’s donations like these that allow projects like those of the Ramacrisna Institute, located in Betim, to happen and transform the lives of thousands of people. The institution has been operating for 65 years with educational, cultural, and vocational projects and has benefited over two million people since its foundation. “Take advantage of the tax payment moment to allocate a small portion for the benefit of a cause that has a significant impact on the lives of children, youth, and the community they are part of. Trust your accountant and the process, as it is regulated by the Federal Revenue and is quite simple: you just need to choose the social organization and the project to which you want to direct your contribution,” advises Daniela Marra, a Master in Public Administration, specializing in Corporate Finance, and controller at the Ramacrisna Institute.

Besides being cost-free, making the donation is very easy. Simply access the Federal Revenue program, select the type of fund you want to allocate your donation to – in this case, you should select the “municipal” field, fill in the indicated fields, and issue the DARF form for payment. When making the payment, the taxpayer should send the proof by email to the Betim Children and Adolescent Council (cmdcafiabetim@gmail.com) with a copy to Ramacrisna (ramacrisna@ramacrisna.org.br), also informing the name of the project to which they want to allocate the donation. If this information is not complete, the transfer is not made. On the Ramacrisna Institute website, you can find a complete description of the projects and a step-by-step guide to make your donation.

Companies like the Minas Gerais Sanitation Company (Copasa), one of the partners of the Institute, invest in programs to encourage employees to allocate their income tax. Through the Confia Program, the team can exercise citizenship, as well as help in the development of children and adolescents from various institutions in different locations. Robson Cesário, who works in the administrative sector of Copasa, recognizes the importance of knowing how these resources are being used. “We have the privilege of participating in the Confia Program and being able to contribute to organizations like the Ramacrisna Institute, which tirelessly works in areas such as education and health, essential for the Betim community,” he says.

Transformational Donation

In 2023, the Sharing Knowledge and Orchestrating the Future projects provided knowledge to hundreds of young people and adults thanks to the income tax allocations received by the Institute. In total, 799 people had their lives transformed through the vocational courses that make up Sharing Knowledge. The project offers courses such as audiovisual, industrial robotics, mechanics, among others, always aimed at qualifying these future professionals for the job market.

A highlight in the cultural scene, Orchestrating the Future provided string, percussion, and wind instrument classes last year for 37 musicians from the Ramacrisna Philharmonic Orchestra.

Why Choose the Ramacrisna Institute

For the seventh consecutive year elected one of the 100 Best NGOs in Brazil*, Ramacrisna transforms received resources into new life opportunities for people in vulnerable situations. With professional management and transparent accountability, Ramacrisna has impactful projects that benefit not only the participants but also reverberate in the family and society.
