What areas can the young apprentice work?

In order to hire a young apprentice, it is necessary to have a partnership with a training institution. That is, the theoretical classes are held in this organization and the practical ones in the contracting company. Since 2005, the Ramacrisna Institute has been accredited for the training of these adolescents.

Currently, there are six training courses in different areas that prepare young people for the job market, with notions of ethics and how to behave on a daily basis, in addition to guidance on how young people can maintain their quality of life in the work environment, for example.

Get to know each of the training courses and the Institute’s differentials in the training of young people.

Area of activity of the Apprentice Teenager

In order to deliver the learning courses, the institution must comply with a series of requirements, such as registration in the National Learning Registry, safe and hygienic physical facilities, in addition to having a work plan compatible with the Statute of Children and Adolescents (ECA).

The Ramacrisna Institute’s Apprenticeship Program meets all the above prerequisites and has already trained more than 3,600 young people from 13 cities in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte. When a company becomes a partner in the project, it can hire teenagers in any of these areas:

  • administrative – the young person assists in the routines of the administrative department, involving customer service, monitoring of reports, preparation of spreadsheets and file control;
  • retail trade – the teenager works in the routines of the commercial department, involving customer service, monitoring of reports, preparation of spreadsheets and file control;
  • logistics – the apprentice participates in the routines of the logistics department, monitors operational and transport indicators, fills in spreadsheets and helps with inventory control;
  • audiovisual production – young professionals help in the creation, production and realization of audiovisual products based on the knowledge acquired in the apprenticeship program;
  • banking services – teenagers work in bank branches, developing administrative and operational activities, involving customer service and activities related to information technology;
  • music – apprentices participate in the Ramacrisna Youth Orchestra and help newly arrived musicians in theoretical and practical lessons.

Usually, the practical part is carried out in the company, but in the case of audiovisual and music courses, theory and practice, they are carried out at the Ramacrisna Institute itself.

Why choose Ramacrisna?

The activities of the Adolescent Apprentice program have the credibility and seriousness of Ramacrisna, an institution with over 63 years of work and 17 years of training for young people. In addition, we offer the Youth of the Future course, aimed at preparatory training for learning in order to integrate into the company with more competence and knowledge of the actions to be carried out.

During classes, students receive lessons in public speaking, job interview guidelines, ethics, customer service, and interpersonal relationships

These teenagers are referred for interviews at partner companies, according to the company’s demand, profile analysis and the teenager’s performance during the course. In this way, they arrive more prepared for companies.

Another benefit is transparency during the entire selection process, which is carried out completely free of charge for adolescents and the contracting company. During classes, apprentices receive personalized teaching material, prepared by professionals from the Institute and the Ministry of Labor.

The pedagogical sector has professionals with different backgrounds and qualifications, complementing learning with a single objective: to develop teenagers’ skills and competences for the job market.

In addition, the instructors of the theoretical classes meet once a week to review and plan the entire teaching plan, bringing different ideas and methodologies through dialogue.

The Institute also forms partnerships with companies that help in the formation and well-being of the apprentice. The Se Cuida Jovem (Youth, take care) project, for example, is a partnership with Pitágoras College and offers psychological listening to young people, with individual or group interventions.

With Alair Martins Institute, teenagers were able to participate in an entrepreneurship project. “This is a way of adding value to the contents and promoting experiences outside the classroom”, highlights Janara Gomes, pedagogical coordinator of Adolescent Apprentice.

How are the classes

In theoretical classes, instructors use methods to reverse the use of the room in relation to the conventional way, rethinking the teaching processes and giving voice to the students. In addition, case studies and simulations of real problems are presented, so that adolescents can visualize and solve possible situations that occur in practical experience.

Also, the Adolescent Apprentice uses the entire structure that Ramacrisna provides, such as the computer lab and the room with a digital whiteboard. “We use educational methodologies and technologies to optimize the stages of transmission and assimilation of knowledge”, explains Janara.

As part of the internal Knowledge in Action project, Ramacrisna professionals who work in areas related to the class agenda take part in the lessons. In the Ergonomic Structure of the Administrative Sector class, for example, physical educators from the Institute talked about ergonomics and labor gymnastics. In addition to understanding the impacts on employee health, the apprentices were able to learn a little about the profession. They also could answer questions from students who are interested in the area.
