Public and Community Libraries Network promotes Literary Festival in Betim, from October 18th to 22nd

Event brings debates such as inclusion, indigenous and African literature

Betim will host, from October 18th to 22nd, a series of meetings focused on literature. The Betim Literary Festival will be held for the first time in the city, in a 100% virtual format, being promoted by the Network of Public and Community Libraries of Betim – which includes the libraries of Ramacrisna Institute, Salão do Encontro, Cantinho dos Sonhos and Leonor de Aguiar Baptist. The event has the support of the Sou de Minas Uai State Network of Community Libraries and the National Network of Community Libraries (RNBC).

The idea of ​​promoting the Literary Festival came from meetings of the state network, which felt the need to debate important issues such as inclusion, African, Afro-Brazilian and indigenous literature, in addition to encouraging reading through the dissemination of poetry and of other genres. “The themes were thought out in order to promote a discussion about relevant current themes, placing reference people in our city and in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte, who work in these areas, as guests”, highlighted the coordinator of the Ramacrisna library , Cleide Aparecida Moura.

The opening of the Festival will be led by the poet and author Guto Amaral, who will make a poetry reading inspired by Manoel de Barros. The soiree, called “Breaker of Tomorrows”, will be broadcast on Youtube by Ramacrisna on Monday (10/18), at 7 pm.

On Wednesday (10/20), at 3:30 pm, there will be a live with the theme “The place of literature in adolescence”, on the Zoom platform (link) with the writer Nívea Sabino – author of the book Interiorana, coordinator of RodaBH of Poetry and founder of the Academia Nova-limense de Letras – and with the representative of Rede Sou de Minas and RNBC, Maurício Paiva. The event will be mediated by the Coordinator of Public and School Libraries of SEMED/Betim, Jéssica Sá, and will have the participation of reader Vitória Camily, age 18, owner of the profile @Literamente_Vitoria, on Instagram.

Also on Wednesday, at 7 pm, there will be a meeting of the Project Tertúlia Literária Betim 2021, which this year brings the theme “Lightness in Literature”. The book chosen for the meeting is ‘Veríssimo Anthológico: half a century of chronicles’. To participate, you must pre-register by calling 99546-3319. The mediation will be in charge of the Doctor and Master in Literature – Portuguese Language Literatures, Luciana Brandão Leal.

On October 21, at 7:00 pm, the program will feature the debate “Decolonizing the shelves: The place of African, Afro-Brazilian and indigenous literature in libraries” (link). The event will have the participation of Eni Rodrigues (specialist in African literature), Ananda Machado (specialist in indigenous literature), Talita Rocha (illustrator, visual artist and Portuguese teacher) and the master in education and pedagogue, Nídia Sabino. The mediation of the table will be the responsibility of the Coordinator of the Public Library Leonor de Aguiar Batista, Cristina Santos.

On Friday, 10/22, also at 7 pm, the end will be with the live “Children’s Literature in the perspective of inclusion” (link). The event will be attended by young visually impaired Luan H. SouZa (Ramacrisna Institute), Veridiana Souza (director of the Reference and Support Center for Inclusive Education – Rafael Veneroso. CRAEI- RV), Zanísia Ferreira (representative of the Betim Physically Disabled Association – ADEFIB, braille sector), Juliana Daher (Researcher in children’s literature and training of readers in early childhood) and Daidner Freitas (choreographer, photographer and author of children’s books from Betim). The event will be mediated by the coordinator of the Cantinho dos Sonhos library, Márcia Campos.
