Find out how our projects align with the Sustainable Development Goals
The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a global call to action to end poverty, protect the environment and climate and ensure that people everywhere can enjoy peace and prosperity, thus achieving the 2030 Agenda. The Ramacrisna Institute, through its various social, educational and environmental projects, directly impacts 12 of the 17 SDGs, thus promoting significant transformations in the lives of thousands of people.
But do you know how to put the SDGs into practice? Here’s how you can contribute to a better future in your daily life.
Ramacrisna invests in complementary education through the Ramacrisna Educational Support Center (CAER), which offers tutoring, a library, computers, chess, sports and music workshops, for example. We also offer professional training through various courses offered at Ramacrisna’s headquarters and at the centers of the Building the Future Project, sponsored by Petrobras. The FabLab Ramacrisna encourages learning in technology and innovation, preparing young people for the professions of the future.
How to help: To put this SDG into practice encourage children and young people to study, donate books or support educational projects.
The Girls on the Net project trains girls in technology, generating empowerment. In this way, Ramacrisna also promotes female participation in traditionally male courses, such as mechanics and robotics, through its professionalizing initiatives.
How to help: Encouraging women to enter various fields and promoting egalitarian environments is one way of putting the SDG into practice
The Adolescent Apprentice program has already placed more than 5,000 young people in the job market. 80% of them are hired after their contract ends. Finally, vocational courses offer qualifications in various areas, thus guaranteeing decent employment opportunities.
How to help:Support small local businesses and encourage fair labor practices.
Ramacrisna provided more than 200,000 services in 2024, offering education, culture and professionalization to people in vulnerable situations. Projects such as the Ramacrisna Philharmonic Orchestra, VALE – Vencer, Acreditar, Lutar, Engajar, CASA, and the Viva o Esporte Project promote social inclusion through culture and sport.
How to help: To put the SDG into practice, take part in social campaigns and defend the inclusion of minority groups.
The Institute develops environmental education projects, including recycling, composting and preserving native forests, for example. The EcoTrilha project encourages environmental awareness among students and employees.
How to help: With simple actions, it is possible to put this SDG into practice: separate waste correctly, reuse materials and support sustainable initiatives.
The Institute’s kitchen avoids waste and promotes affordable food through Betim’s Popular Restaurants and partnerships with the Food Bank. All the organic material generated is sent for composting and the fertilizer generated is used in the institution’s gardens. In addition, all the oil used in the machines at the Cercas factory and in the institution’s mechanics course is disposed of correctly, as is the electronic waste collected.
How to help: Avoid wasting food and dispose of your waste correctly.
Ramacrisna generates 90% of its energy from photovoltaic plants. It also offers solar panel installation courses, training workers for the sector.
How to help: Reduce energy consumption and use renewable sources whenever possible.
The Institute promotes social projects that help prevent violence and guarantee opportunities for young people at risk. In addition, Ramacrisna develops responsible and transparent work, valuing ethics, inclusive and participatory management.
How to help: Support organizations that work for social justice and against discrimination.
Ramacrisna has strategic partnerships with companies, municipalities and international institutions, expanding its social impact. Projects such as Globalized Solidarity, for example, carried out in partnership with Liverpool Hope University, broaden the cultural and academic horizons of those served.
How to help: Encourage companies to support social projects and take part in community actions.
Ramacrisna invests in innovation. Its Fence Factory, responsible for generating around 40% of the institution’s income, has modern machinery and values sustainable principles in its production. Fablab Ramacrisna has the most modern technological equipment on the market and promotes the digital integration of children and young people.
How to help: Prioritize products from industries that adopt sustainable technologies in their production.
