A project by Instituto Ramacrisna, supported by Criança Esperança, aims to include girls in situations of social vulnerability
Eighteen girls, living in the rural area of Betim, in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte, are completing the second group of the Technology and Programming Course, which is part of the Net Girls project, developed by the Instituto Ramacrisna, with supp the Instituto Ramacrisna headquarters (379, Mestre Ramacrisna Street, Santo Afonso, Betim ort from the Rede Globo’s Criança Esperança and UNESCO and also with the City Hall of Betim. The graduation will take place on July 22, at 2:30 pm, at).
In the course, which had 200 hours of practical and theoretical classes, teenagers between 14 and 17 years old were trained in programming, robotics, app development, among other content. Classes were taught at FabLab Ramacrisna, with access to state-of-the-art equipment, such as 3D printers, virtual reality glasses, CNC Laser Cut Router, tablets, computers and lego kits for the practice of Educational Robotics.
The Net Girls project aims to include girls in situations of social vulnerability in the areas of Technology and Innovation. For the vice president of Ramacrisna, Solange Bottaro, the project is innovative and opens new horizons and possibilities for women in areas predominantly occupied by men. “Girls are virtually excluded from the tech industry due to the social and gender challenges they face on a daily basis. However, the commitment and resourcefulness of these girls in learning make it very clear that the investment made through the Net Girls project and the trust placed in them by the Instituto Ramacrisna were worth it. They will certainly have a bright future,” she argues.
Enrollment is also now open for the new class of the Technology and Programming Course. Applications can be made until 07/20 at the Institute’s website. The goal is to train 60 girls by the end of the year. The Net Girls project also promotes sports and cultural activities such as dance, chess, judo, among other sports. The goal is to serve 278 girls, aged between 6 to 17 years.
FabLab – The FabLab Ramacrisna is the first Digital Fabrication Laboratory to operate in a rural area in Brazil. Until then, there were 25 models of this type throughout the country, three of them in the capital of Minas Gerais. The space offers the most modern and advanced in technology and innovation, with tools and materials for the rapid production of objects through prototyping.
