The Inclusive Solidarity project receives donations of used computers and electronics for repair and distribution to the community
What to do when you replace a computer? This electronic material can not be thrown away in the common trash. Therefore, it is necessary to think about the correct destination. But how about donating the electronics you will no longer use to change the life of a community?
This is what the Instituto Ramacrisna project, Solidarity Inclusive, proposes, which directly benefits the students of the Computer Operator course and the families of those enrolled at CAER. Discover this initiative.
Inclusive Solidarity has existed for over 10 years. It’s quite simple: the Institute receives donations of used or even non-functioning computers and notebooks. This material is used in the qualification of students in the Computer Operator course. There, students repair, restore and install software, leaving the equipment ready to be used again.
Reinaldo Cesar Mendes is the course’s instructor. He explains that working with these electronics is a differential for the training of students. “In the classroom, we work the methodology and the theoretical part in a well-grounded way. As you have a lot of practice, this makes the course very good. Therefore, when the student goes to the market, he does very well.
He points out that other training schools do not have the practice of operating electronics, which ends up being a deficiency in the students’ curriculum. Furthermore, Reinaldo explains that Ramacrisna receives various types of computer models and servers. “They gain a lot of baggage of experience. They are not surprised when they go to the market”, he points out.
Once ready, the computers are raffled off to students at the Ramacrisna Educational Support Center (CAER). Every month, on average, four students from the project are drawn to take a computer home.
Parents sign a lending agreement. That is, he does not have a scheduled delivery date. “The child will enjoy the computer as long as it is useful.
“As the community is lacking, no matter how simple the computer gets out of here, it’s a big deal for them”, says Reinaldo. To be one of the beneficiaries, the student must be enrolled and attend both CAER and regular public schools. You also need to show good behavior.
In addition to contributing to the training of new professionals and providing the digital inclusion of socially vulnerable people, the Inclusive Solidarity project plays an important role in environmental preservation..
This is because, to repair computers, sometimes there are parts and materials that are no longer useful. They are kind of junk. This material has heavy metals and toxic substances in the structure, which can contaminate soil, water and food. Therefore, it poses a danger to the environment and human health.
That’s why Ramacrisna has a partnership with Emile, an electronic waste recycling company. They collect the material and dispose of all electrical and electronic waste in an environmentally appropriate manner.
Instituto Ramacrisna receives donations of computers, notebooks, printers, mice, keyboards and even cables.
We recently received two large donations from partner companies: Hotmart and Transpés. But individuals can also donate, they do not need to have a minimum amount, and the equipment can be delivered to any unit of the Institute.
