How does technology revolutionize the job market?

It’s not just the way we communicate that has changed in recent years, but the way we work too. Technology has driven profound changes in the job market. Automation, for example, has emerged as a disruptive force, changing the nature of occupations.

Fueled by advances in artificial intelligence, robotics, among others, technology is redefining the way tasks are performed in various sectors. In other words, repetitive and predictable processes are no longer carried out by humans, but are now the activities of robots controlled by artificial intelligence.

This technology can be implemented in companies of all sizes and in different sectors. Automation has become increasingly common due to the benefits for the market.

Demand for new professionals

For technology to make a difference in the job market, companies are looking for qualified professionals. Therefore, the area can be a great career opportunity, with high demand in topics such as artificial intelligence, data analysis, software development and systems engineering.

Knowing this, the Ramacrisna Institute trains people between 16 and 50 years old to work in the area, through the Industrial Robotics course. In classes, future professionals learn how to work in different areas of the automation industry (PLC programmer, robot programmer and industrial electrician). They know efficiency and safety concepts for programming development, industrial  process control logic and also industrial robot manipulation and programming.

Samara Gomes was a student on the course in 2018 and today works at an automation company. She, who also took Mechanics classes at the Institute, found her passion in  Ramacrisna. It was during the professional course that she gained the basis of knowledge in the area and even got a referral to the company where she works.

“Ramacrisna was a turning point in my life, through the courses taken at the institution, specifically the Robotics course. It opened the doors to a job in the area that I still work in today, since 2018 and allowed me to complete my degree in Production Engineering. I have always been interested in the area of robotics and industrial automation, when the opportunity to join the course arose it was a great opportunity to enter the area, the course brought very comprehensive knowledge in the area”, he points out.

Benefits of technology for the job market

  • Efficiency and productivity: Automation allows repetitive tasks to be performed faster and more accurately than by humans. This results in greater efficiency and productivity in business operations;
  • Error Reduction: Automated machines are programmed to perform tasks consistently and accurately, reducing the likelihood of human errors. This is especially important in industries where accuracy is crucial;
  • Reduced operating costs: Automating repetitive tasks can lead to a significant reduction in operating costs. Although the initial investment in automated systems can be high, in the long term, the benefits in terms of time and resource savings are substantial;
  • Freedom for more complex activities: By transferring repetitive tasks to automation, workers can dedicate more time to activities that require unique human skills, such as creativity, decision-making and social interaction;
  • Adaptation to hostile environments: In many cases, repetitive tasks are associated with hostile or dangerous work environments, where exposure to adverse conditions can pose risks to the health and safety of workers. Automation allows these tasks to be performed by machines, keeping workers out of harm’s way;
  • Scalability: Automated systems can handle large volumes of work consistently and without the need for rest or constant human supervision. This makes them ideal for handling tasks that require scalability, such as large-scale data processing or mass production.
