Turning ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) into practical actions is essential for transforming communities and building a sustainable future. Ramacrisna applies ESG in practice with various environmental initiatives that promote the preservation and efficient use of resources. These actions not only minimize environmental impact, but also generate direct benefits for the community and social projects.
One example is oil recycling, carried out by Cercas Ramacrisna and the Institute’s School of Car Mechanics. Ramacrisna sends all the oil used to a partner company, which treats and processes the material. In this way, the Institute helps prevent environmental pollution and promotes responsible reuse.
In addition, since 2014, Ramacrisna has been reusing the organic waste generated in the kitchen, dry leaves and grass clippings. The result is a high-quality organic fertilizer used in the Institute’s gardens, promoting a sustainable cycle of reuse.
Another action was to optimize energy performance. In partnership with Cemig, the Institute replaced motors, light bulbs and wires. So today, all of Ramacrisna’s light bulbs are LED, ensuring greater durability and efficiency in energy consumption.
Since August 2020, Ramacrisna has operated a photovoltaic plant that generates clean, renewable energy. The solar panels installed on the roofs have reduced electricity costs by 90%, generating savings of around R$60,000 a year, funds that are reinvested in social projects.
Finally, CAER (Centro de Apoio Educacional Ramacrisna) also plays a fundamental role in training children and teenagers, teaching sustainable practices and creating a new generation aware of the importance of preserving the environment.
In the social sphere, Ramacrisna’s ESG can be translated into programs that promote inclusion and equity. Initiatives such as the Adolescent Apprentice program and vocational courses, for example, prepare young people for the job market, offering professional qualifications and promoting equal opportunities.
In addition, projects such as CASA, Viva o Esporte, Construindo o Futuro and many others offer sports, social, cultural and professional training activities for the elderly, young people and children, promoting health, education, strengthening community ties and encouraging autonomy. In other words, all the Institute’s actions are aligned with human rights and highlight the importance of celebrating International Human Rights Day on December 10.
The Ramacrisna Institute adopts a rigorous approach to ethics and transparency, applying ESG in practice in its governance. On International Anti-Corruption Day, celebrated on December 9, the Institute reinforces its commitment to transparent and accountable management.
Accountability is a clear example of ethical governance. Annual reports detail the impacts and results of each project, promoting trust and alignment with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 16, which aims for peace, justice and effective institutions.
Ramacrisna’s actions show how ESG in practice can generate positive impacts for individuals and entire communities. By aligning its initiatives with the principles of the UN Global Compact, the Institute serves as an example to other organizations, showing that it is possible to unite sustainability, social responsibility and ethical governance.
