Betim delegation wins 23 medals in the second stage of the 2025 Minas Gerais BMX Championship

The competition was held in Taiobeiras, in the north of the state

The BMX team from the Viva o Esporte project, run by the Ramacrisna Institute in partnership with the Betim City Council, returned from Taiobeiras, in the north of Minas Gerais, with impressive achievements under their belt. During the second stage of the 2025 Minas Gerais BMX Championship, held on May 31 and June 1, the athletes secured the top of the podium with 23 medals, including 11 gold, 8 silver, and 4 bronze. In addition, 11 other cyclists ranked among the top seven in their categories, reinforcing Betim’s leading role in the competition.

With this performance, the team remains among the favorites for the state title and is now preparing for the next phase, which will take place on September 6 and 7 in Poços de Caldas. The grand final will be held in Betim on November 1 and 2 at the traditional Aquileu Franco do Amaral BMX Track.

The Minas Gerais Championship is contested in four stages throughout the year, and the results of each stage are added to the overall ranking, which will determine the season’s grand champions. “Once again, our athletes put on a show. Their dedication in training has made all the difference, and we are very proud of the results. We remain confident for the next stages,” celebrates team coach Fabíola de Araújo.

Intense preparation for this second stage was essential for the good performance. The team invested heavily in physical conditioning, technical training, and, above all, in the start and pace of the race, which are decisive points in the events. “The team’s evolution is visible. They are more mature, united, and determined. It is gratifying to see this growth,” adds Fabíola.

First stage

In the inaugural stage, held in Muriaé on March 22 and 23, the Betim team had already impressed with their performance in the competition. They won a total of 32 medals: 10 gold, 10 silver, 7 bronze, as well as four fourth places and two fifth places.

The Betim delegation consists of 35 cyclists aged between 7 and 59, divided into 24 categories. The diversity and commitment of the athletes have been key factors in accumulating points in the state ranking, both in individual and team competitions.

Now, with two stages completed and impressive results, Betim has established itself as one of the powerhouses of BMX in Minas Gerais in 2025.
