Why should your company support the Third Sector?

Being a Third Sector partner can make your company better seen by customers. Learn how to be part of Ramacrisna’s chain of good

Did you know that supporting the third sector is an interesting strategy in brand positioning? It is not for nothing that leading companies in different markets invest in social actions. This is the case of Natura, Petrobras and Amazon, for example.

Reinforcing this idea, a survey by Giving Brasil shows that 71% of consumers are more inclined to buy from brands that support social organizations. Another study, this time by Trendwatching, points out that brands with a social purpose get more attention from consumers. In addition, these companies have a direct impact on the purchase or consumption decision..

More than influencing consumers, these companies are able to attract young professionals who, more and more, have a greater desire to work in companies that act with social responsibility..

Why support the Third Sector?

The first reason to be a partner of Third Sector organizations is to reaffirm the companies’ commitment to the common good. Especially when the brand invests in social initiatives related to its audiences or in communities where the company operates.

In this way, the company positions itself in the market as committed to the whole, allowing the advancement of society and contributing to the end of inequality. This is what we call ‘corporate citizenship’ or ‘corporate citizenship’. Companies that invest in this area are more likely to attract national and international investors.

Another important point is the impact on the company’s employees. A survey carried out by V2V shows that employees who work in companies that do good have greater satisfaction and commitment in the corporate environment.

How do consumers see the Third Sector?

If you have doubts that the Third Sector is well regarded by society, know that a survey shows that more than half of Brazilians see the action of the Third Sector positively. This is the study “Brazilians’ perception of civil society”, carried out by GIFE, in partnership with Natura, Instituto Natura, Fundação Telefônica Vivo and Fundação Tide Setubal.

In summary, the research shows that, even ignoring the specifics of the sector, the population has a positive assessment of civil society organizations. 21% attribute this view to knowing well the work done by the entities, 19% to seeing testimonies of people who were supported by them and 16% to trusting the integrity of those who are part of a civil society organization.

The survey also revealed that 46% of respondents believe that third sector organizations take on jobs that should be the responsibility of the government. In addition, the research showed that the organizations’ sources of resources, their relationship with the State, the focus of activities and the format of action are not clear to the vast majority of the population. Consequently, they limit the potential for participation and social engagement.

65% of survey participants “have heard of” a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). When asked about their willingness to support actions by different types of organizations, half (50%) of respondents answered that they would support NGOs. The minority (3%) would support political parties.
