Founded in 2005, the Ramacrisna Philharmonic Orchestra was created with the purpose of bringing children and young people, aged 9 to 29, closer to the world of classical and instrumental music. Currently, the project consists of about 50 musicians, who receive lessons in theory and instrumental practice in strings, wind instruments, and percussion.
Under the baton of conductor Eliseu Martins de Barros and with the guidance of renowned teachers Alexandre and Elias Barros, students not only learn music, but also develop discipline, teamwork, sensitivity, and self-esteem, values that reverberate throughout their lives.
Over its 20-year history, the Orchestra has performed on the most important stages in Greater Belo Horizonte, such as the Palácio das Artes, CCBB, Teatro Bradesco, and Cine Theatro Brasil Vallourec. In this way, it has established itself as one of the main cultural initiatives in Minas Gerais.
In addition, it has shared the stage with big names in Brazilian and international music, such as Seu Jorge, Céu, Lô Borges, Fernanda Takai, Flávio Venturini, Toninho Horta, Beto Guedes, and Mônica Salmaso, enchanting audiences of all ages and styles.
In 2024, the Orchestra experienced one of its greatest moments when it celebrated the 65th anniversary of the Ramacrisna Institute with an unforgettable show alongside Seu Jorge at Cine Theatro Brasil. The event brought together around a thousand people and reinforced the role of music as an instrument of transformation and inclusion.
In November 2025, the group will return to one of the most celebrated stages in the capital of Minas Gerais to celebrate its 20-year history with the charity concert “Clássicos de Minas” (Classics of Minas). The show will bring together artists from Minas Gerais such as Sérgio Pererê, Marina Araújo, Laura Catarina, and Trio Amaranto in a celebration that mixes congado, Clube da Esquina, rap, and the strength of Minas Gerais culture.
All proceeds will go to the Ramacrisna Institute’s projects. This proves that art can be a powerful link between solidarity and social development.
