Welding simulator brings safe knowledge to students at institution in Betim

State-of-the-art technology is used in the Ramacrisna Institute’s welding course

The Ramacrisna Institute, a benchmark in professional training, has just taken a significant step into the future with the acquisition of an advanced welding simulator. The equipment, imported directly from India, integrates the latest augmented reality technology, providing students with an unprecedented practical and safe experience.
In addition to the simulator, eight other new welding machines were purchased by the institution. The new acquisitions, made through financial support from Rotary Club International – an action led by the BH Liberdade Rotary Club of District 470 and the Calgary West and Calgary West Olimpic Clubs of Canada – will modernize Ramacrisna’s welding course.

Proven benefits
The new welding simulator allows students to train in a variety of environments, both indoors and outdoors, with surprising accuracy. It is capable of simulating everything from basic operations on flat surfaces to complex procedures on pipes, using welding techniques such as coated electrodes, MIG/MAG and TIG. “The acquisition of this simulator represents a significant advance for our educational program, guaranteeing students robust practical training in line with current market requirements, as well as generating savings in materials and energy for the Institute, since before they start practical classes at the welding stations, our students will have already accumulated hours of training on the simulator,” said the vice-president of the Ramacrisna Institute, Solange Bottaro.
The innovation doesn’t stop there. The simulator also offers an advanced assessment system, allowing the teacher to monitor each student’s performance in real time. “With this equipment, we can anticipate the students’ practice without exposing them to unnecessary risks. In addition, the simulator offers detailed and accurate feedback, allowing us to correct and develop each student’s individual skills efficiently,” said welding course instructor Rafael Valois.
The main benefits of the new simulator include reduced wear and tear on real equipment, reduced training time and costs and improved knowledge retention by students, as well as contributing to student safety by eliminating the risk of accidents during the learning phase. “With the help of simulators, we can make the most of students’ knowledge and skills in virtual environments, simulating risky situations without compromising people’s physical integrity,” explained Rafael Valoes.
The augmented reality technology used in the simulator is capable of generating detailed reports on the penetration and porosity of the welds, as well as pointing out successes and errors and the volume of material used. This allows students to learn with precision and efficiency, adapting quickly to the demands of the job market.

Industry 4.0 and Professional Training
The introduction of the welding simulator at the Ramacrisna Institute is in line with the trends of Industry 4.0, which involves the integration of cybernetic systems and advances in artificial intelligence in the different stages of production. “We are preparing our students for a future where technology and innovation will be essential in all areas of industry,” said the vice-president.
In line with the new multiprocess machines, students now have unlimited practical training, allowing everyone from beginner students to professional welders to hone their skills. “There are eight multiprocess machines that will be part of our students’ practical classes. They integrate the Mig Mag, TIG and coated electrode welding systems, giving them access to equipment with modern and advanced technologies, guaranteeing an even more complete education. ”, concludes Rafael.
The course has the support of the companies Metropolitana Gases, TTX, Belgo Aramos, Movi Soldas, NTS, as well as Betim City Hall and the Municipal Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents.

About the vocational courses
For 28 years, the Ramacrisna Institute’s vocational courses have been transforming lives through education. Aimed at young people and adults at personal and social risk in 11 cities in the Belo Horizonte Metropolitan Region, the initiative not only offers technical learning, but also stands out for its human and citizen training, which is essential for the development of ethical and professional values. More than 8,000 people have already benefited from the courses, gaining qualifications to meet market demands and contributing directly to strengthening the local economy and social inclusion.
The economic impacts are significant both for society and for the students: every R$1.00 invested in the training is worth R$1.00.
