The judo team from the Ramacrisna Institute in Betim secured the qualification of 16 students at the municipal trials for the Minas Gerais School Games (JEMG) and continues to prepare to represent the municipality in the next phase of the competition. This year, the competition reached a historic milestone with 853 municipalities registered, representing the participation of every city in the state in the event.
In the municipal qualifying round, held in Betim, 16 athletes from the institution secured automatic qualification for the next stage of the competition by placing in the top three in their respective categories. One of the major highlights of the team’s participation was the performance of Module II, which achieved a 100% success rate, with all participating students qualifying.
Considered one of the largest student competitions in the country, the Minas Gerais School Games are sponsored by the Government of Minas Gerais. In addition to encouraging sports participation among children and adolescents, the JEMG also serves as a gateway to national competitions, as the champions secure a spot to represent Minas Gerais in the Youth School Games and the School Paralympics.
For Ramacrisna’s coach, Caliton Silva, the result demonstrates the athletes’ dedication and reinforces the team’s potential for the upcoming stages. “The tryouts were very important for us to assess our students’ technical level and also to build their confidence within the competition. We achieved excellent results, and this shows the athletes’ commitment to training and to the sport,” he notes.
The coach also emphasizes positive expectations for the rest of the competition. “We are very motivated for the next stage. We know the level only gets higher, but our students have been preparing with seriousness and discipline. The expectation is to have a strong showing and represent the municipality and the Ramacrisna Institute very well,” he says.
