Emanuely Cardoso and Geovânia Soares continue their Asian tour and are now competing in the final leg of the international circuit in South Korea
The Brazilian beach volleyball duo of Emanuely Cardoso, known as “Manu,” and Geovânia Soares, both 23, wrapped up their participation in the Pingtan leg in China with an outstanding result: 5th place overall in the Beach Pro Tour Futures. The athletes are part of the “Viva o Esporte” program, organized by the Ramacrisna Institute in partnership with the Betim City Government.
Their performance in Pingtan marks another important step in the Brazilians’ international career, as they are competing in a series of three stages of the circuit organized by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). Before arriving in Pingtan, the duo also competed in the Qidong stage, where they secured their first victory on the world circuit and advanced to the round of 16.
On Monday (the 10th), Manu and Geovânia flew to South Korea, where they will wrap up their series of competitions in Asia. The next stop is Busan, which will host the final leg of the tour from August 13 to 16.
Key Points for the World Rankings
The Futures-category events serve as the gateway to the high-level international beach volleyball circuit. The title in each event is worth up to 400 points in the FIVB rankings, with 200 points awarded to each player on the duo.
The points earned in these competitions are crucial for the Brazilian players’ progress in the world rankings and can pave the way for tournaments in higher categories, such as the Challenger and Elite 16, which bring together some of the top pairs on the international scene.
In addition, the results achieved during their international campaign are part of their preparation and pursuit of key points in the Olympic cycle, with the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games as their goal.
International participation also reinforces the work carried out by Viva o Esporte, which provides athletes with opportunities to compete and develop at different levels, helping talents who have come up through the sports system in Minas Gerais reach new stages and compete in world-class tournaments.
