Ramacrisna Institute initiatives offer free physical activity for all ages, strengthening health, well-being, and social development.
For many people, the beginning of the year is a time for reflection, setting goals, and seeking change. Among the most common resolutions are those related to health, well-being, and adopting new habits. In this context, physical activity appears as one of the main goals. However, for these goals to be lasting, it is essential to have planning, monitoring, and environments that encourage continuity.
But to go beyond the initial excitement, the tip is to find an activity that fits into your daily routine and is not just an obligation. At the Ramacrisna Institute, sports and physical activity projects offer free access, professional monitoring, and continuous activities throughout the year for people of all ages.
The Ramacrisna Institute believes that physical activity goes far beyond physical benefits. This is because sport is an essential tool for the integral development of human beings. In this way, it contributes not only to physical health, but also to emotional balance and the strengthening of social relationships. By moving, individuals learn to deal with challenges, recognize limits, and develop self-confidence.
In addition, physical activity promotes fundamental values for social coexistence, such as discipline, respect for rules, cooperation, empathy, and teamwork. In other words, in healthy and inclusive sports environments, children, adolescents, and adults learn to live with differences, respect others, and understand the importance of the collective, skills that directly reflect on their personal, school, and professional lives.
For this reason, at the Ramacrisna Institute, sport is understood as a powerful tool for social inclusion and the exercise of citizenship. In other words, by ensuring free access and qualified supervision, sports projects help reduce inequalities, expand opportunities, and strengthen community ties. Thus, physical activity becomes a real path to building a more just, healthy, and promising future.
One of the main examples is the Viva o Esporte (Long Live Sports) Project, carried out in partnership with the Betim City Government. The initiative serves children aged 4 and up, adolescents, young people, adults, and seniors, with or without disabilities, offering various activities, including:
Meanwhile, the CASA Project (Culture, Social Assistance, and Sports Activities), also in partnership with the City Hall, further expands the reach of physical activities. With more than 10 centers distributed throughout Betim, the project offers activities such as soccer, futsal, martial arts, swimming, ballet, Zumba, Pilates, gymnastics, dancing, and recreational activities, for example. People aged 6 and older can participate in this initiative.
In addition, the VALE Project – Win, Believe, Fight, Engage, carried out in partnership with Vale, offers activities for children and adolescents between the ages of 6 and 18 in socially vulnerable situations. The initiative includes workshops on chess, 7-a-side soccer, futsal, peteca, volleyball, and judo. The project encompasses educational sports, which seek the integral development of the individual for the exercise of citizenship and the practice of leisure.
Construindo o Futuro VI (Building the Future VI), in partnership with Petrobras, is aimed at residents of the Imbiruçu and Petrovale neighborhoods in Betim and the cities of Ibirité and Sarzedo – regions neighboring REGAP. The sports activities aim to contribute to the integral development and expansion of various skills and competencies of children and adolescents aged 6 to 17. In addition, it uses a recreational method that provides students with pleasure, creativity, and motivation, reducing their levels of anxiety and stress. Activities include basketball, futsal, volleyball, handball, and capoeira, for example.
Finally, judo classes began in 2018 for children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 who are served by the Ramacrisna Educational Support Center (CAER). More than just teaching sports techniques, judo is approached as a philosophy of life. In addition, students have already won more than 90 medals in competitions, as well as places in programs such as Bolsa Atleta (Athlete Grant).
Participating in the Ramacrisna Institute’s sports and physical activity projects is simple and completely free. To do so, interested parties should contact the center, hub, or project closest to their residence and inquire about the available sports, days, and class schedules.
The initiatives are aimed at residents of Betim of different age groups, including children, adolescents, young people, adults, and the elderly, with or without disabilities.
