Chess players from Betim win titles and shine at a metropolitan tournament in Belo Horizonte

Students took the top spots on the podium in various categories during the Metropolitan Chess Circuit – Diamond Series, held in Belo Horizonte

The Ramacrisna Institute chess team stood out at the Metropolitan Chess Circuit – Diamond Series, held on June 6 in Belo Horizonte. The competition brought together 49 chess players from 12 municipalities in Minas Gerais for matches in the classical format, a modality that offers participants more time to think and demands a high level of concentration, strategy, and planning.

The institution’s representatives achieved strong results in the circuit. In the Under-12 Open category, Enzo Gabriel Ferreira de Almeida took first place. In the Under-12 Girls category, Maria Eduarda Reis Silva took the championship title, while Ana Júlia Ferreira da Silva Ribeiro secured second place.

For Bruno Jacomini, the chess teacher at the Ramacrisna Institute, these achievements are the result of a continuous process of learning and dedication. “We are very happy with the results achieved by our students. Medals are important, but what makes us most proud is watching each of them grow, developing concentration, discipline, analytical skills, and the confidence to face challenges. These achievements show that daily effort and commitment are making a difference both on and off the chessboards,” he notes.

He also highlights other benefits of young people’s participation in competitions like this one. “Beyond the athletic results, participating in competitions provides students with important lessons, fostering independence, emotional balance, the ability to handle challenges, and respect for the rules and opponents,” he emphasizes.
