Athletes from the Viva o Esporte Project stood out at the Minas Loterias Caixa Sprint Cup, organized by the Minas Gerais Athletics Federation

Betim was one of the highlights of the Minas Loterias Caixa Sprint Cup, held last Saturday, the 6th, in Diamantina (MG). Representing the municipality, athletes from the Viva o Esporte Project, developed by the Ramacrisna Institute in partnership with the Betim City Government, won 31 medals during the competition organized by the Minas Gerais Athletics Federation.

The delegation’s performance resulted in 16 gold medals, nine silver, and six bronze, distributed across the Under-14, Under-16, Under-18, Under-20, Adult, and Master categories.

In the U-14 category, the athletes won seven medals: two gold, two silver, and three bronze. In the U-16 category, there were five medals: three gold, one silver, and one bronze. The U-18 and U-20 categories each won one gold medal.

Among the athletes in the Adult category, the tally was seven medals: three gold, three silver, and one bronze. The Masters category recorded the highest number of wins, ending the competition with nine medals: six gold and three silver.

For Nilson Amaral, technical coordinator of the Viva o Esporte Project, the results achieved in Diamantina reflect the consistency of the work carried out throughout the season. “We are pleased because the results reflect the consistency of the work carried out throughout the year. We managed to achieve strong performances in the events, as well as securing podium finishes in virtually every category we represented. This demonstrates the athletes’ technical progress and the effectiveness of the training methodology. At the same time, it reinforces the importance of providing opportunities for children, teenagers, and adults to develop through sports,” he emphasizes.

Participation in the state-level competition also gave the athletes the opportunity to compete against representatives from various cities in Minas Gerais, broadening their athletic experience and strengthening skills such as discipline, responsibility, perseverance, and respect.
