Inside Ramacrisna: motorcycle mechanics course transformed Nathanael Cordeiro’s life

With courage and dedication, Nathanael left the healthcare field for a motorcycle mechanics course and now works at the Roma Yamaha Group

The story of Nathanael de Brito Silva Cordeiro is inspiring. He left behind the healthcare field, where he worked for over five years as a nursing technician, to fulfill his dream of making a living from his true passion: motorcycles.

A former student of the motorcycle mechanics course at the Ramacrisna Institute, Nathanael earned a position at the Roma Yamaha Group, one of the industry’s leading companies, and now works as a motorcycle assembler. His career shows how education can open doors and transform destinies.

From nursing to the dream of motorcycles

For a long time, Nathanael worked in renowned hospitals in Belo Horizonte, such as Mater Dei, Proclin, Promed, and Unimed, for example. Despite his experience and financial stability, something was missing: he did not feel fulfilled.

The turning point came when he bought his first motorcycle. Little by little, he ventured into small repairs and adjustments on his own, and his curiosity turned into passion. To learn more, he sought out online courses in motorcycle mechanics, but soon realized that distance learning did not offer the practical experience he so desired.

That’s when Ramacrisna entered his story. Influenced by his mother, Maria Aparecida, who was a typing teacher at the Institute and always spoke highly of the institution, Nathanael decided to apply for a spot in the motorcycle mechanics course.

“I already had a strong desire to change careers. When I heard that Ramacrisna would be offering spots, I went to the Institute even before the course started. I didn’t get in on my first try, but I persisted. In the next class, I was finally accepted,” he recalls.

The decision was not easy. In order to attend classes, Nathanael had to resign from the hospital, as it was not possible to adjust his schedule. This meant giving up almost four years of work and accumulated labor rights.

“It was a big sacrifice. I started driving for apps like Uber and 99, as well as doing odd jobs to support myself. Some were even in the field of motorcycle mechanics, because I had basic tools and did small jobs. But I was determined not to give up,” he says.

Learning

Even with so many challenges, at Ramacrisna, he found everything he was looking for: in-person classes, direct contact with motorcycles, and a teacher who was essential to his training. “The course was exceptional. Teacher Sandy is very dedicated, attentive, and helped me put into practice everything I had been learning. That’s when I realized: this is where I belong.”

After completing the motorcycle mechanics course, Nathanael began distributing resumes to dealerships and repair shops. His efforts were rewarded when he received an invitation for an interview at Grupo Roma Yamaha.

“The course was decisive in my hiring. The theory from online courses helps, but practice is essential. At Ramacrisna, I was able to really get my hands dirty, understand the systems, and gain the confidence to enter the market. Today, I work as a motorcycle assembler, doing the final assembly, checking accessories and invoices, and making sure everything is ready for customers. It’s an incredible feeling to do such important work at a leading company like Yamaha,” he says.

In addition to personal fulfillment, Nathanael has also achieved financial improvement. “My current income has surpassed what I was earning in the healthcare field. And best of all, I get to do what I love most: being around motorcycles every day,” he says.

But it doesn’t stop there: he dreams of opening his own workshop and, who knows, working as an instructor. “I really enjoy passing on knowledge. I even applied once to be a teacher at the Institute. It didn’t work out yet, but I’m continuing to gain experience so that soon it will become a reality,” he dreams.

Ramacrisna’s motorcycle mechanics course

Nathanael’s success is a direct result of the training offered by Ramacrisna. The motorcycle mechanics course is comprehensive, with 300 hours of classes and a focus on professional preparation for the current market.

During the course, students learn:

  • Metrology and Basic Mechanics: technical fundamentals for accurate diagnostics;
  • Suspension, Steering, and Brakes: maintenance, adjustments, and repairs that ensure performance and safety;
  • Basic Electricity and Electrical Systems: reading diagrams, diagnostics, and troubleshooting;
  • Operation of engines with electronic fuel injection: technology applied to the most modern models.

In addition to the updated content, the difference lies in the practical classes in a fully equipped environment, which allow students to develop the real skills required by the market. At the end, graduates are able to identify faults, replace parts, perform tests, and ensure the proper functioning of motorcycles of different makes and models.

All this is only possible thanks to partners who believe in Ramacrisna’s work. The motorcycle mechanics course is supported by the Betim City Hall, the Integrated Center for Automotive Companies in Betim and Region (NIESA), the Government of Japan, Instituto Localiza, Instituto Coca-Cola Brasil, Intituto Phi, Rotary, and the Coca-Cola Foundation.
