Easter is one of the main holidays in the country and celebrates renewal and unity among people. Each religion understands the date with a different meaning, but in all of them, there is an atmosphere of celebration and festivities.
One of the main symbols of Easter are chocolate eggs, which stir the imagination of many children.
But, in the case of socially vulnerable children, the date becomes less sweet, as they often do not fulfill their dream of receiving an Easter egg.
For this reason, Ramacrisna Institute launched the 2022 Easter Campaign. In addition to collecting donations for our students, we also prepared a play about the symbology of sweets.

According to Edilene Lemos, pedagogical coordinator of the Ramacrisna Educational Support Center (CAER), the idea is to create a space for socializing with children, taking into account the reality of these students. “Many of them suffer from emotional and food shortages and we saw a way to meet these needs“.
So, the celebration of Easter will have two moments. To begin with, CAER students will watch a theatrical play performed by the project’s teachers. The intention is to show, in a playful way, a reflection on the symbols of Easter.
In the story, a group of hens revolt and go on strike because, at Easter, people remember only the rabbit, which does not lay eggs. In addition, there is also the figure of the rooster, who feels betrayed by the hens making the decision without consulting him. From there, they show how they should not obey, as a way of portraying the relationship between men and women in society.
After the presentation, the idea is to distribute the chocolates to the 150 children, between 6 and 14 years old, who are CAER students. In order to carry out this celebration, the entire Ramacrisna team is working to find partners who can contribute with donations of eggs or resources for the acquisition of sweets.

The Educational Support Center is a project of Ramacrisna Institute that offers several workshops to children. The activities are carried out in a period complementary to the classes taught at the public school. In addition to being a safe space for children to stay after school hours, CAER allows children to broaden their horizons, have leisure and cultural options completely free of charge.
Children receive lunch and snacks daily, including on vacation, as well as school supplies and clothing, as an incentive for the family to keep them at school regularly. As a result, school evasion and child labor, common practices in the region, were significantly reduced, and there was an increase in the level of schooling of children and adolescents. To reinforce this precept, children can only participate in activities at Ramacrisna if they are enrolled and attending public school.
