Students from the “Viva o Esporte” project win 37 medals

The “Viva o Esporte” Project, carried out by the Ramacrisna Institute in partnership with the Betim City Hall, now boasts 37 more medals in its trophy gallery. This time, the achievements came from the Paralympic athletes and taekwondo practitioners of the project in competitions held last weekend.

At the Caixa Lotteries Athletics Meeting, a competition promoted by the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB), the Betim delegation, composed of 25 para-athletes, won 29 medals – 20 gold, seven silver, and two bronze – in athletics, which included running, dart and discus throwing, and shot put events. The competition, which had about 450 participants, aims to crown the development of sports practice, contribute to the technical improvement of the modalities, and provide competition opportunities for elite athletes. The event took place at the Sports Training Center of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) in Belo Horizonte from April 12th to 14th.

The athletes from “Viva o Esporte” also excelled on the judo mat at the “Alcateia” Judo Festival, held at Monte Carmo Shopping last Saturday (13th). Eight program students participated in the competition and stepped onto the podium, winning no less than seven gold medals and one silver. The festival promotes the participation of beginner athletes in matches in the sport, with the aim of improving the students’ knowledge in the practice of the sport.

“We are very happy and proud of the achievements our students have been making in the championships. This shows not only the seriousness of our work but also the dedication and discipline that each of these children and teenagers has towards sports. We must also congratulate the entire technical team, who train our young athletes with such care and dedication. Congratulations to each of them, who represented our city so well,” highlights Solange Bottaro, vice-president of the Ramacrisna Institute.
