Celebration Featured a Special Concert
This month, the Ramacrisna Philharmonic Orchestra celebrated 19 years of dedication to culture and instrumental music as a means to transform lives. In a special event, the Vianópolis community in Betim enjoyed an innovative and emotional repertoire.
The Ramacrisna Philharmonic Orchestra was created in 2005 with the purpose of transforming the lives of children and young people in vulnerable social situations. The project aimed to use music as a way to offer young people the opportunity to immerse themselves in a universe of possibilities and artistic expressions. In this way, the musicians find alternatives for their personal and professional development.
Currently, the Ramacrisna Philharmonic Orchestra comprises 40 musicians. They not only learn to play their instruments but also explore a diverse repertoire that ranges from classical to modern compositions.
Over its 19 years, the Ramacrisna Philharmonic Orchestra has performed at various major cultural venues in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, including the CCBB, Teatro Bradesco, and Palácio das Artes. Additionally, its journey includes partnerships with major national and international names, reflecting the high artistic level and dedication of the young musicians who are part of this project.
In addition to its commitment to musical excellence, the Orchestra is inaugurating a new chapter in its history, emphasizing sustainability. By adopting tablets, the group has reduced paper usage. Previously, around 546 sheets were used monthly for printing sheet music. Annually, this amounts to 6,560 sheets—equivalent to saving 1 tree and using 65,600 liters of water. Today, the Ramacrisna Philharmonic Orchestra uses a digital tool that contributes to environmental preservation, showing that it is possible to combine art and sustainability.
In addition to adopting tablets, the Ramacrisna Philharmonic Orchestra held a special concert to celebrate its 19th anniversary. The “Rock Classics” performance featured a repertoire of hits from Led Zeppelin, Queen, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Guns N’ Roses, The Beatles, and Metallica. The musicians were also joined by a band made up of traditional musicians from Belo Horizonte and a lyrical vocal quartet.
With nearly two decades of history, the Ramacrisna Philharmonic Orchestra continues to inspire new generations, not only for its artistic quality but also for its commitment to innovation and sustainability. This anniversary is more than a celebration of the past—it is a sign of the promising future that awaits these young talents and the community they belong to.
To ensure that the work of the orchestra continues for many years, Ramacrisna relies on the sponsorship of companies like Weg. Additionally, it receives funds from the Instituto Machado Meyer and Instituto Cultural Vale through the Federal Law of Cultural Incentives.
It is also possible to donate any amount to support this and other projects of the Ramacrisna Institute. Get in touch and make your contribution.
