Young athlete Fellipe Lorenzo Cordeiro, just 13 years old, won the silver medal at the Gymnasiade 2025 — the world’s largest under-15 school championship — held in Zlatibor, Serbia.
He represented Brazil through the Viva o Esporte Project, an initiative of the Ramacrisna Institute in partnership with Betim City Hall.
The competition, held from April 4 to 14, brings together thousands of young athletes aged 12 to 14 from various countries, across 21 sports disciplines.
Organized by the International School Sports Federation (ISF), with support of R$1 million from the Brazilian Ministry of Sport, the event promotes sport, culture, and international exchange.
“It’s a great thrill to represent Brazil and bring home this silver medal. Each fight was a unique experience, and I learned a lot from each of them.” — Fellipe Lorenzo
In addition to competitions, the athletes take part in workshops and cultural activities, promoting valuable exchanges with young people from other countries.
The Brazilian delegation has 356 members and is one of the largest in the 2025 edition.
“Meeting athletes from other countries and competing on equal terms with them was an experience I’ll carry with me for life.” — Fellipe
Fellipe’s achievement reflects the impact of the Viva o Esporte project, which offers free physical activities to people of all ages in Betim, with a strong focus on inclusion and community development.
